In THE LOOK, OC friends drop by to try on our favorite new arrivals and tell us about their wardrobe preferences past and present.

Samantha York does a lot of things; she is a model, musician, and artist, but her main focus lately is a quarterly zine called TASTY. Now on its third issue, the submission-based zine was founded last year by York and her friends in Brooklyn. The publication features an array of art, photography, and writing, in a crisp layout with an attractive design. Earlier this week York held a release party at a storefront in Williamsburg for the current issue Movement, where contributors gave readings from the issue and friends gathered to celebrate the artist project. We met up with Samantha after the successful launch and captured her looking truly angelic in some of our favorite new arrivals.

Name: Samantha York
Hometown: Born and raised in Austin, Texas
What look are you into at the moment? Whichever one pops out of my closet in the morning.
What look were you into in high school? I loved my asymmetrical hair cuts and wild bathroom dye jobs.
Most regrettable fashion moment? No regrets, it's been wild at some points, and definitely not always good, but I loved every single moment.
Your three wardrobe essentials? Clean underwear, clean pants, and clean shirts
Your three wardrobe wishes for spring? I'm not sure spring is going to show up this year, this winter feels unending. I just want to feel the sunshine on my skin!
Most prized piece in your wardrobe? My white silk robe, most comfortable article of clothing I've ever worn.
Favorite spots to shop? Bakery in Williamsburg is general style store with a small but well-curated vintage clothing section and it always smells good in there. I also go to No Relation in the East Village as often as possible.
Who are your style icons? Deborah Harry, she's such a babe.
Any style pet peeves? Thin cotton leggings as pants, they're just not pants damnit!
When and why did you move to NYC? I moved in March 2011 to chase the dream like everyone else.
Tell us about TASTY. TASTY is a quarterly submission based magazine that I started with my friend Matt Yu in the spring of 2013. Each issue has a theme and we ask artists to create pieces based on this theme. We host a one-night pop-up gallery show for the release of each issue featuring selected visual pieces from the current issue as well as host a reading for selected written pieces. We just had our third release and gallery show early this week in a storefront space in Williamsburg, Brooklyn and it was a great success! It's a wonderful thing to see fellow artists come out and support new work.
How did TASTY come about? The idea blossomed from the search for a community of thought, and the interest in acting as a platform for new artists and their work. I love thinking about all the artists pondering the same theme and seeing what work comes out of each of them.
How did you go about curating the current issue? Is there a common concept or theme? Yes! The theme for this issue was "movement," and Matt and I worked together to pick work we feel fits the theme as well as showcases the artist strengths in his or her chosen medium.
