Toga's Fall/Winter 2014 collection told us to take a walk on the wild side. The Tokyo brand's first London fashion week presentation today was more than appropriate for New York's fashion week blizzards and London's persistent rain. Think fur paws and shawls, khaki tones, and utility belts: what a fashion girl might wear if she were to explore the Alaskan wilderness Into The Wild-style.
The other side of the collection was soaking wet. Fantastic sheer and iridescent fabrics gave the effect of turquoise water, whereas black patent and rubber materials suggested protection against harsh weather conditions. It was this contrast of textures, both synthetic and natural, that emphasized ideas of the human struggle against Mother Nature. Perfect then, for drizzly cities such as London and Tokyo.
