Ryan Lo's Fall/Winter 2014 collection ran wild today—to the wild west, that is. He took a trip to the USA's deep south for his debut solo fashion week presentation since his departure from Fashion East. The looks resembled a rodeo cowgirl beauty pageant. Each model brandished a gold and silver toy gun as she played the part of a wild west bad girl, 'shooting' at photographers and show-goers while clad in flamenco lacy ruffles and kawaii-esque knitted dresses.
As a reference to the story of Thanksgiving, when Indians and pilgrims shared food and feasted for three days, Ryan has created his own version of events where his characters exchange footwear. Specifically, footwear from his first collaboration with SWEAR, a selection of pink and yellow sneakers with crystal embellishments. Throw in a few cacti and a smoke machine and Ryan might have made an all-female version of The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly. They might have worn pastel shades and pony motif knitwear—but in Ryan's western tale, don't let appearances deceive you. Put 'em up, cowgirl!
