Wooyoungmi Fall/Winter 2014 at Paris Men's Fashion Week

Classic menswear met modernist art at Wooyoungmi's Fall/Winter 2014 show. Korean-born, Paris-based designer Woo Youngmi and her sister, Woo Janghee, place an emphasis on quintessential menswear shapes each season, with the prints and color palettes being dictated by their inspiration. This season, the muse was contemporary art museums from around the world, especially the authoritative Guggenheim and Tate Modern. Through graphic, geometric patterns that danced like mobiles across the front of shirts and Pollock-esque paint-splatter prints, the art world settled in perfectly among Wooyoungmi's signature dressed-up looks. The brand's usual architectural influence was in place as well, with staunch shoulders and curved lapels that draped at perfect angles against oversized pinstripes and checked woolen fabrics. The Wooyoungmi look is still gentlemanly, but even the most stalwart of men have a creative streak behind the down-to-business façade––and this collection really lets it shine through.
