The Future Is Now for pushBUTTON FW13

I remember when I was growing up there was so much speculation about how things would be in the future. Living on the moon, hover cars, space-age fashions consisting of very shiny, very angular garments… Well, the future is here and to be honest I don't dress that much differently than I did when I was little. The designer for pushBUTTON, Seunggun Park, had the Back to the Future movies in his head when creating his Fall collection and realized the clothes weren't that different now. In the second movie they travel to the year 2015, which is just two years from now! While we're certainly more evolved technologically (bless you, Internet) you're way more likely to see someone walking down the street dressed like 1985 Marty McFly than 2015 Griff Tannen. Park's collection explores the idea of how items become classics and puts his own twist on the styles that resurface season after season. Familiar shapes in big skirts, turtlenecks, and dressy shirts are redone in a way that is both traditional and fashion-forward. Although I was thinking more along the lines of the Jetsons when I was growing up, if this is the future, that's totally fine by me.
