Country Strong: Acne Studios SS13

My guilty, obviously not-so-secret, secret is Nashville. For real, it's amazing. If you miss Friday Night Lights and love melodrama, glitter, and the music of Patsy Cline, it's for you. In terms of style, yes it comes up heavy on soul patches and leather bracelets for men, but I love the cowboy boots, hats, and endless white worn by the (many) strong female leads. Acne Studios designer Jonny Johansson was inspired by folk and country music for his Spring/Summer 2013 collection. Specifically by an Emmylou Harris cover of Neil Young's "Wrecking Ball," the chorus of which goes "Meet me at the wrecking ball, wrecking ball, I'll wear something pretty and white." As a result, there is a delicate strain of sheer white fabrics running through the collection, in the form of transparent denim-style jackets and crinkled floor-length skirts. But, staying true to the Acne spirit, the spring girl is still tough. A range of striped leather pieces in ice cream shades suggests she's just as likely to throw her guitar off the stage and have an affair with her tour manager as she is to plaintively pen love songs about men who wear boot-cut jeans.
