OC x NYFW: Chloë Sevigny for OC FW13

Between the protest movement-inspired looks and the screeching guitars of the bands that performed, defiance was rampant at Saint Mark's Church in the Bowery this afternoon, during the Chloë Sevigny for OC Fall/Winter 2013 presentation. Stone-faced models picketed with painted signs bearing messages like "IT'S TIME TO HAVE SEX" and "FLIRTY FISHING" (a phrase Charles Manson would use to recruit his followers). Meanwhile behind the protesters, I.U.D. (Lizzi Bougatsos and Sadie Laska), Shannon Funchness (of Light Asylum) and Rafael Radna, Thinner (Lissy Trullie's newest project), Bleached, and Kim Gordon and Ikue Mori took turns playing.

The collection was as Chloë as it gets. 60s silhouettes ruled, with A-line skirts and coats, babydoll dresses, and wide collars; and authentic 60s-era fabrics like PVC and vinyl met corduroys, mohair, and gingham (a recurrent theme in her collections for OC since we debuted it for Spring/Summer 2008). The looks also featured printed bodysuits and tights in collaboration with bodywear brand Emilio Cavallini. Cult skate label Vision Street Wear, which Chloë featured in her Resort 2012 collection, made a comeback as well. And true to the rebellious spirit of the collection, inspired by "the inhibition of youth, the follies and fashion of teenagers," as Chloë explained it, activist icons like the ankh, Eye of Horus, and cherries can be found as well.

OC friends and family turned up in abundance, too. See what went down below, and stay tuned for the backstage action and more to come.

A major thank you to our amazing friends, MAC, Microsoft, Freixenet, Vision Street Wear, AG Hair, Svedka, OPI, and Vita Coco, for making it all possible! | Photos by James Parker, Matt Kelly, and Philip Nguyen

Chloë partook in the presentation by modeling herself. And what was going through her head throughout? "I was reminding myself to breathe!"
