OC x NYFW: Rachel Comey SS13

Nothing says summer like steel drums and swimsuits. As hot pink silk dresses and printed athletic shorts came down Rachel Comey's runway today to a breezy calypso beat, you could practically smell the suntan lotion. It was a show pulled off in true RC style—accompanied by a live band and some of the best shoes around. Finishing each look were perforated leather brogues or curve-heeled metallic sandals in electric blue and luminous green. And on the subject of metallics, the piece that turned the most heads was a sculpted mini skirt cut from mirror-like platinum leather. Following on from fall, Rachel contrasted her much-loved watercolor prints with bolts of acidic color. Cropped shirts in quilted chartreuse cotton did just what the first pieces of the summer shows should do, getting us jacked up on sun.
