In anticipation of his two upcoming shows in NYC this weekend (peep the flyers to the left), I asked one of my favorite DJ/producers of the moment, DjSliink, to create a club banging mix exclusively for OC. Ever since hearing his remix of Barbadian songstress Shontelle's "Impossible" last year, I have been eating up every Sliink release up to his recent and exceedingly addictive Climax edit. Check out his OC mix here, which includes some of his original productions and remixes of Rick Ross, ASAP Rocky, Kirko Bangz, Black Betty, Kanye's "Mercy", The Weeknd, and much more. Plus, click through for a few questions with the man himself!

OC Mixtape Series #21: DjSliink by OpeningCeremony

Jesse Hudnutt: Where are you from?
DjSliink: I am from Newark, New Jersey. Born and raised.

JH: How old are you?
DS: I'm 21 years old. I'm a youngin', lol. Oh yeah, and I'm a Scorpio.

JH: How'd you get started in music and DJing?
DS: I've always been kind of in love with music and I was 16 or 17 when I started DJing. My younger brother (ClubHeadSLiiM) was producing music at the time, and I was highly interested in what he spent his free time doing. Then I started messing around with FL Studio.

JH: How does Jersey Club music influence your sound?
DS: Jersey Club influences my sound big time, from its heavy bass to its chopped off vocals. It gives a bounce and swagg to my music. With Jersey Club, I can go anywhere from hip-hop/Trap music to Ballroom.

JH: You're known for your own original tracks and production but I also love your remixes. What about a song makes you wanna remix it?
DS: Recently I’ve been big on original production, but I started off remixing a lot. Lyrics are the first thing that make me interested in remixing a song, and the instrumental is second. It doesn't have to be perfect, but something has to catch my ear. From there, I can make a great song.

JH: This mix goes HAM!! What’s the ideal environment for listening to it?
DS: Thanks! The ideal place is in your car, windows down, and LOUD. I think it's too much to listen to in a bedroom. People would think you were crazy if you were walking, lol. The club for sure!

JH: iPhone or Blackberry?
DS: Vuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu! [Sliink makes sound of Blackberry vibrating]. I could answer this dead! Blackberry, of course. I made the Vibrate Project with it.

JH: What are you listening to these days?
DS: Right now I'm listening to Baauer's "Harlem Shake [DjSliink Remix]", which is featured in this mix. I met Baauer in New York. He's a real mellow, cool type of guy.

JH: If you could work with one recording artist on a track, who would it be?
DS: Hmmm
