If there's one thing that Tauba Auerbach's works at Paula Cooper Gallery have in common, it's their optical puzzle quality. From trompe l'oeil crumpled canvasses (surprise––they're flat!) to prismatic sculptural objects and a solid block of onyx bound in book form, her pieces playfully summon the semiotician in all of us. Interrupting patterns and pushing the boundaries of structures is the artist's M.O. Look out for the textures, and quiet-yet-complex Weave works, which manage to accomplish that in monochrome.
