Opening Ceremony Presents The Fall/Winter 2015 Version Of A “Camera Bag”

Even though Spike Jonze is more apt to carry a camera bag over any other type of duffel, we still couldn’t resist using the photographer’s eye to help filter and craft our handbags for the Opening Ceremony Fall/Winter 2015 collection.

Our brand-new Mini Lynx Crossbody bag is designed in a square frame that features a sturdy circular handle embossed with the Opening Ceremony logo. While the handle of the bag notably reflects the rounded edges of a camera lens, the circular shape is also inspired by Spike’s photo edits and selections that he used to handwrite on his original contact sheets. When making selections of the photos that he would later print out, Spike would quickly circle the images or mark them with X’s that signified that these choices made the cut. This circle-meets-square concept carries over from the Spike’s contact sheets into the Opening Ceremony bags this season—and we’re guessing the prints on these backpacks and clutches would have passed the test and made it to the printer.

Some mainstay handbag favorites also make a triumphant return in new colors and inventive textures and fabrications that would prompt any camera-holder with a photographic eye to click away. The Izzy Backpack is back in black with a dark shearling fabrication that cozies up to any outfit while the Athena Lunchbag comes in a rich navy velvet and marble-accented wallets complete what should line the inside of your bag.

You may not have the same visual skill set as the iconic Spike Jonze, but with the Opening Ceremony handbag selections, you can at least pretend like you do.
