In 1993, Kim Gordon and stylist Daisy Von Furth teamed up to help create ‘90s fashion history with their X-Girl brand. X-Girl, which was born out of Gordon and Von Furth’s desire to bring the effortlessly cool vibe of the mens streetwear brand X-Large across gender lines, quickly grew into a cult phenomenon right after its launch. And it’s easy to see why, with a roster of celebrity supporters including Sofia Coppola, Chloë Sevigny, and (of course) Spike Jonze.
While X-Girl has changed hands and made the move over to Japan in recent years (don’t worry, they’re still churning out duds Gordon and Von Furth would be proud of), Jonze’s dedication to the cult brand has remained a constant. That dedication is what originally brought X-Girl and Opening Ceremony together for a special collaboration. OC founder Humberto Leon spotted Jonze in a classic X-Girl “Coach” jacket that sparked his imagination so much that OC hit up X-Girl for a reissue of the original ‘90s design. Adding our own twist on the faux fur-lined old school fave with the addition of our box logo, the jacket brings a piece of ‘90s fashion history into 2015, literally and figuratively.
