Show: Isa Arfen

Location: Milk Studios

Winning look: Big Bird mohair coat over grey silk dress

Inspired by: Photographs by Italian photographer Luigi Ghirri from the early '70s near her hometown of Ravenna, Italy. Photographs of deserted beaches in muted, soft, dusty tones. Wanted to capture the emotional, sentimental—a cross between childhood and rebellion using '70s tailoring and '90s Italian Vogue attitude.

Reminded us of: American Horror Story, subdued Palm Springs, raiding your grandmother’s closet, discovering the best hidden thrift store gem in the desert.

Wear it to: Brunch with your eccentric grandmother

Reporter’s notes: Emotional music, bored Renaissance girls, muted tones with unexpected elements like sequined fringe and sparkly fabric. Makeup: fresh faced, dark lips, heavy, silver, abstract earrings. Clothing for an opulent, re-imagined '90s with a mismatched ladylike quality and layered styling.

Front row quote: “Love the hints of fringe!” —Jenne Lombardo

Spotted: Jenny Lombardo, Zanna Roberts Rassi, Leandra Medine

Overheard: “Thank you for being here you make us look so good.”

Soundtrack: Bodies of Water and Black TambourinePhotos by Derek Anthony WelteSerafina Sama of Isa Arfen
