OC loves a good artist collaboration, just ask Magritte. That’s why when Comme des Garçons announced its collaboration with French artist Aurélie Mathigot, we couldn’t help but to geek out a little bit.
The collaboration is truly a match made in heaven. Mathigot’s art focuses on mixed medium collages, combining personal photographs with fabrics and even embroidery. The clever mixes of materials in conduction with the artist’s distorted photographs of things such as Tokyo streets, haute couture, and abandoned buildings create a sense of surrealism to Mathigot’s work, lending itself well to the contrasting simplicity of the brand’s signature wallets. The end product? Something way more interesting than your standard black leather wallet, that’s for sure.
