OC Mixtape: Drippin

Listening to 24-year-old DJ/producer Drippin's hard-hitting, percussive rhythms and strange melodies, it's hard to imagine such satisfying club music coming out of an abandoned butcher's shop outside of Bergen, Norway. But that's exactly where Erik Spanne, a.k.a. Drippin, keeps his studio. "Living in the rainiest city in Europe forces you to stay inside," he explained.

The fruits of all this solo studio time will be released to the public on November 11 in the form of Drippin's debut EP, Silver Cloak. Hits from the release have garnered DJ support from the likes of Diplo, Evian Christ, Nguzunguzu, and Fatima Al Qadiri. The EP follows two innovative tracks Drippin produced for progressive rapper Le1f. 

The EP was released on Lit City Trax, solidifying the growing popularity of the label’s underground sound on an international scale. “I’m drawn to this style of music because there is a lack of it where I come from,” Drippin told us. 

Of course, the producer also spends a fair amount of time DJing the underground club circuits of Europe. Below, an exclusive mix he produced for OC.
