For Fall/Winter 2014, Opening Ceremony took a, well, hands-on approach with its textured prints and shapes. Or rather, palms and fingers by way of Belgium. The city of Antwerp, with its rich tradition of architecture and design, inspired the clean lines, asymmetric shapes, and geometric prints of the collection. (What does Antwerp have to do with hands? Legend has it the city was named after a soldier who conquered a giant, said giant's hand becoming the token symbol of victory.)
Frequent OC collaborator KT Auleta created a video for this latest collection, featuring a soundtrack from L-Vis 1990, pieces with fingerprint fabric details from the new collection, and models displaying universal hand signals. "I wanted to capture the girls in a playful way. Having them go through the same motions while filming was a way to do that," Auleta told us. "Using the prints as animated shapes was also a key part to keeping the energy high in the film."
