OC x NYFW: Patrik Ervell FW12

While having only been around for two seasons, Patrik Ervell's womenswear already rides up front alongside his renowned men's ready-to-wear. Incorporating a unique range of materials and textures—vulcanized rubber, horsehair, chiffon, and laminated silk, to name a few—Patrik's Fall/Winter 2012 collections are a revised lesson in uniform dressing. Cotton twill utility pants, pleated lambskin skirts, athletic fleece sweaters, and field jackets communicate this concept elegantly. These traditional examples of performance outerwear styled with imaginative pieces like the rubber tread snap belts, PVC pants, pewter chiffon dresses, and skin-tight hand-painted silk undershirts ask us to rethink the aesthetic of authority.
