Mother of Pearl Fall/Winter 2014: London Fashion Week

As a self-professed girly girl, the enchanted forest themes in Mother of Pearl's Fall/Winter 2014 collection had me totally spellbound. Founder Maia Norman's answer to A Midsummer Night's Dream featured pieces with pink gingham, floral-embellished collars, and princess-style bell sleeves. Pulling from the Arts and Crafts movement in the late 1800s, especially the works of Josh Ruskin, Mother of Pearl placed a focus on more traditional handicrafts. Inspired by the timeless textiles and wallpaper of William Morris, MoP's creative director, Amy Powney, collaborated with New York-based needlework artist Richard Saja to update the brand's signature prints with intricate neon thread work of unicorns, deer, and cherubs. Embroidered fairy tale motifs added magic to the contrasting modern styles with delicate florals and unicorns adorning bomber jackets, sweaters, and flatform loafers. In short, it's the perfect collection for any modern-day princess.
