Delpozo Fall/Winter 2014: New York Fashion Week

Last September, Josep Font's choice of setting for Spring/Summer 2014 left the audience in awe of both the romantic, voluminous garments and the towering ivy archways that architecturally framed them. But for the Delpozo Fall/Winter 2014 show this morning, the creative director opted to leave his set bare, letting natural light pour in through the venue’s walls of windows. Although in a slightly more minimalist vein than these past efforts, the storied Spanish label’s third New York show still screamed extravagance, featuring a live seven-piece band scoring the models’ walk. Although this collection’s diverse range of looks presents a challenge in isolating motifs, Font’s focus is always clearly on construction. Since re-launching the Madrid-based brand in 2012, Font has maintained a masterful marriage of structure and femininity that harkens back to Delpozo’s 1974 roots. Reconsidering both playful geometric shapes and floral embellishments, the form and shape of Delpozo’s silhouettes left us breathless.
