Dries Van Noten Fall/Winter 2014 at Paris Men's Fashion Week

Does it come as any surprise that Dries Van Noten delivered a winning Fall/Winter 2014 men's collection in Paris this week? The Belgian maestro unveiled looks that gave off as many raver vibes (cue the pinks that packed a punch, acid-washed prints, and jewel tone-streaked hair on the models) as they did Renaissance flair (with rich velour and decorative ruffles on button-downs and collars that recalled regal portraits of Louis XIV). Honorable mentions from the techno-fop parade included luxe fur stoles, parachute silk paneled pieces, and instances of bold geometric lines that made powerful statements on pants and shirts. The result was an elegant and refined collection that avoided both candy-flipping hippie clichés and monarchic stuffiness.
