OC x PFW: Carven SS14

Remember those plastic stretch chokers you used to buy at the mall? Guillaume Henry does. His spring girl was that first cool girl you saw wearing one––the girl who made you run straight to Claire's. Each look was accessorized with a choker that, upon closer inspection, was actually a chain of delicate roses. This prettification of a 90s tough-look staple was a technique Guillaume applied across the board. There were boxy takes on denim jackets, covered in floral appliqués but still equipped with large utility pockets (with a "Carven" tag where the "Levi's" would be). Low-slung button-front skirts were reminiscent of your teen wardrobe, but came in rose prints and pastel camo. The 90s was also a great time for two of Carven's signatures: the mini dress and the matching skirt suit. A succession of both came out at the end of the show, in juicy silk shantung, paired with the collection's second most delicious accessory: suede platforms topped with giant bows.
