Cédric Charlier is made of tougher stuff than the sugar and sweetness he treated us to at Cacharel. His spring show yesterday was held at the beautiful, slightly Spartan Palais des Beaux Arts in Paris, where models stormed down a red clay runway to the sounds of Julia Holter. Precise tailoring—namely elongated takes on a classic blazer—dominated the first third of the collection, making the vibe pure H.B.I.C., right down to the ponytails clamped in rose-gold metal grips. Part two demonstrated a softer side, with loose silk skirts and tees in painterly stripes. And then came part three, which introduced a woman I imagined as an IRL, modern-day Daenerys Targaryen; Cedric closed the show with a series of bright jewel-tone looks covered in metallic scales. The finale was an iridescent sea-green skirt—that flashed a neon lining as it moved—paired with a blood-red T-shirt, complete with a metal collar that practically screamed "Don't touch my dragons."
