Christopher Kane taught us all a lesson in science (specifically sex ed) at his Spring/Summer 2014 show yesterday. He turned the spring cliché of the flower upside down by deconstructing its anatomy and carefully overlaying it onto the female body. From abstract prints to botanical diagrams, florals were the leading theme of the show (emphasized by organza arrows that were a playful throwback to classroom wall posters). Some of the most enchanting looks included a multicolored felt dress and two-piece suit covered with an iridescent coating, and a metallic skirt with cutouts of stalks, stamen, and stigma. Christopher's graphic sweatshirts also returned for spring, providing a strong contrast to sweeping champagne-tone silk dresses. It was an all-out display of creativity and a lesson in the birds and the bees to boot.
