OC x LFW: J.W. Anderson SS14

Staged at a West London barracks, J.W. Anderson's Spring/Summer 2014 show (one of his biggest yet) headed in a strikingly new direction. Uncharacteristically feminine sheer nylon dresses floated down the runway draped over the model's bare bodies—a far cry from the androgynous silhouettes of Anderson's previous collections. Light and airy pieces were contrasted with sharper geometric deconstructed styles. And textures were manipulated to make origami-like pieces crafted from embossed and debossed leathers and pleathers. Jonathan explained that his fabrics were influenced by household materials like wipe-clean kitchen tablecloths, mops, and take-out boxes, but his designs were the opposite of everyday. Inspired by Japanese design, each piece was a master class in construction.
