OC x LFW: Sister By Sibling SS14

Sister by Sibling's Spring/Summer 2014 show headed in a different direction to their urban jungle-inspired Sibling show at the most recent London Collections: Men. They teleported us to suburban post-war America—aka the land of clipped lawns, white picket fences, and the Tupperware party. The models were images of domestic perfection wearing fixed "hostess with the mostest" smiles as they glided down the runway to the beat of The Shangri-Las' "Sophisticated Boom Boom." Oversized ginghams and prints taken from domestic interiors dominated 50s housewife silhouettes like shell tops, pencil skirts, A-line skirts, and trapeze coats. The S by S team also ventured out with new textures for SS14—including crochet, denim, jersey and feathery handmade rosettes of silk, raffia and Swarovski crystals—without abandoning their signature knits and leopard print (this time blown up to a gargantuan scale). It was pre-war Stepford Wives, Sister by Sibling style.
