OC x LFW: House of Holland SS14

House of Holland took a little trip down Mexico way for its Spring/Summer 2014 show. In a packed-out Soho car park painted with intoxicating purple clouds, show-goers clutched onto their House of Holland temporary tattoo invitations (the invites become more inventive every season—last season we received HoH iPhone cases!). Henry's references were heady nights in Mexico City, by way of the infamous tattoo parlors of Venice Beach. The models—Henry's homegirls—donned pretty mixed denim and lace two-pieces, candy colored jaquard dresses, and sweaters and jackets emblazoned with Mexican religious iconography. Icons were a continuous theme; the recurring cloud print contained the holy trinity of tattoos: the cross, the rose, and the heart.

During a typically British washed-out Fashion Week, most of us are bracing ourselves for another long winter. But House of Holland's color palette of warm sunset tones and rich metallics gave us hope, conjuring balmy Mexican skies and dreams of la buena vida
