OC BTW* Sunset Takeover #2: Marcelo Burlon

For our second Sunset Takeover party, international man about town and designer Marcelo Burlon descended on OC BTW* to celebrate the new collection from his line, County of Milan. Marcelo debuted a special video projection featuring the SS14 lookbook that showed off his T-shirts, sweatshirts, tanks, and hoodies in a 360-degree presentation. It was good vibes all round when Marcelo's friend Devendra Banhart started off the night DJing alongside the designer as the sun set over the waterfront. Friends and family turned out to grab a bite, enjoy the view, take in the music, and do a little shopping. Later, Virgil of Been Trill took over the stage, pumping out heavy beats that got the crowd extra hyped. After the party we caught up with Marcelo to see how his Fashion Week has been going.

Shannan Elinor Smith: Hi Marcelo. What was your approach to organizing this Sunset Takeover?
Marcelo Burlon: The idea was to stage a big family reunion, so I called a few friends to come and play some music with me. I invited Devendra, Virgil Abloh, and Heron Preston to DJ. Then I wanted to launch the video of my new collection, and that was it: a bunch of friends, good music, some beers, and a beautiful view of the river!

How did you first meet Devendra?
We met a few years ago in Milan when he came to perform at the club I was working at. I asked him to play back-to-back with me and that was the beginning of our friendship.

Your line features a lot of wildlife prints. If you could have bought any exotic animal to your Sunset Takeover party what would it have been?
There were already so many exotic animals at my Sunset Takeover! Ha!

What's been the highlight of your NYFW so far?
Nicki Minaj at Alexander Wang's party and A$AP Rocky at DKNY.
