OC x NYFW: Eckhaus Latta SS14

Mike Eckhaus and Zoe Latta showed their spring collection in an ALDI supermarket car park in Berlin this weekend. It was streamed live to a packed theater at the Anthology Film Archives in New York. The footage was shot by the friends' longtime collaborator Alexa Karolinski and was totally hypnotic. As a timer counted down fifteen minutes until show time you saw models (in sunny Berlin) receiving giant glittery green manicures and trying on their footwear: flip flops and pool slides with deconstructed fringing made from masking tape. With about seven minutes to go, the models were dressed and guided onto the street for the walk to the show location. It started to rain and they were offered umbrellas. By the time they arrived at ALDI, the skies were clear and they walked up the car ramp in jade green iridescent ripstop dresses, loosely stitched knitwear, and patterned asymmetrical mini skirts. The shoppers looked surprisingly non-plussed but the looks were wonkily elegant and totally unlike anything else you'll see this season.
