When the word Belgium began being whispered around Opening Ceremony, the name Dries Van Noten soon followed. One of the true Belgian fashion greats (and the famous Antwerp Six), Dries has arrived at Opening Ceremony stores this season—as we celebrate all things Belgian—in a flurry of feathers, chiffon, and patterned silk.
Inspired by the idea of fused genders, and more literally by ultimate power couple Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire, Dries' fall women's collection balances masculine tailoring with more delicate detailing. Just cataloging the materials sounds delicious: marabou, striped silk, snakeskin, floral jacquard, and crystals. Seemingly thrown together with the kind of haphazard energy of a champagne-fueled morning after, these are the type of pieces that make it seem totally casual to pair a feathered shirt with suit pants or a ballroom dress with brogues.
The fall men's collection takes a similar no rules no problems approach. Pajama-esque paisley shirts layer with soft, fuzzy knits for an offbeat take on traditional fall staples. And diverse elements including hyper-authentically styled leather motorcycle pants and quilted bomber jackets season the mix.
