Whether I'm back late from partying or up really early for an obligation, at some point I've been on the subway in those odd twilight moments. Good thing the trains run 24/7. And as with a lot of things, inspiration strikes when you least expect it. The impetus behind Ami's Fall collection was designer Alexandre Mattiusi's time on the Paris Metro, observing the morning mixture of night owls and early risers on their way back home and to work, respectively. January's presentation in Paris found models "boarding" a wooden metro train to really emphasize the inspiration. The party crowd stumbles home in bold zig-zag patterns while the sleepy commuters try to not nod off in simple, muted pieces. The best part though? The zig-zag sweater wouldn't be crazy for an office environment, and some soft, comfortable chinos are perfect to dance in all night. So, if you did stay up all night when you have work the next morning, these Ami pieces will leave your co-workers none the wiser.
