In "The Look" OC friends drop by to try on our favorite new arrivals, and tell us about their wardrobe preferences past and present.
In New York in the summer you feel like it could rain at any moment. When I recently bought one of those see-through tourist ponchos to keep dry during a freak storm, I thought there must be a better way. Enter Wanda Nylon, the Parisian brand devoted solely to rainwear. In the middle of a very muggy New York week, lovely Londoner model Naomi Shimada stopped by OC to try on this amaze tortoiseshell jacket, and a selection of other new gems.

Name: Naomi Shimada
Hometown: Tokyo via Marbella via London
What look are you into at the moment? That fancy, über-cool old lady who dresses head to toe in Japanese designers! I just need the lilac hair now.
What look were you into in high school? The hip-hop princess: high-heeled Jordans, jersey dresses, cornrows, pearly Chanel sunglasses, and diamanté errrrythang! Think JLo when she was going out with Puff Daddy.
Most regrettable fashion moment? I definitely wore bandanas to match my teen boyfriends' du-rags.
Your 3 wardrobe essentials? Neon orange anything, black Issey Miyake Pleats Please everything, and sneakers
Your 3 wardrobe wishes for fall? The Kara pebble leather backpack, the Thierry Lasry Angely Neon sunglasses, and the J.W. Anderson check sweater
Most prized piece in your wardrobe? My dad used to collect amazing one-of-a-kind Hawaiian shirts from the 40s. I have one covered in a beautiful Gauguin print and I take it everywhere with me—it's like a home comfort to either wear or just hang in my hotel room.
Favorite spots to shop?
Dover Street Market in London because it's a full experience. I love taking my time in there and ending with tea and cake at the Rose Bakery on the top floor! In Tokyo, I love Ragu Tagu which is filled with amazing high-end Japanese vintage that's super affordable. I'm also obsessed with plants at the moment so I love Skinny Skinny on Grand Street in New York for its amazing succulents and cacti. And obviously OC!![]()
