Los Angeles' Downtown Film Festival is in full swing, and some of us at OCLA got the chance to see two showings as part of the Festival's Center Piece Event.
In JR Hughto's Diamond on Vinyl, protagonist Henry's relationship is on the rocks after his fiancée finds his secret stash of audio recordings of their intimate life and a confession doubting his feelings for her. A happenstance meeting with Charlie, a charismatic young photographer, provides Henry the opportunity to act out his obsession with creating the perfect interaction, and the pair's imagined conversations become a dangerous game that blur the lines of intimacy and identity.
Conversely, Brian McGuire's Prevertere presents "a pervert's quest for love." Templeton discovers that ladies is pimps too, after twisting through some skeezy sexcapades to find a woman every bit his equal, especially in their "predilection for the kinky." It was a great experience to see both very unique films, capped off with after party celebrating the directors and actors' phenomenal work. If you happen to be in LA, we highly recommend checking out the Downtown Film Festival!
