BITES ON A BUDGET is a toothsome and tasty series where members of the OC family forage for great food––under $10!
I first visted Bed Stuy last August, braving the Megabus to spend a week with OCNY’s Kindall. After escaping from Times Square during rush hour, we raced back to Pratt and on to Salva Vida for a burrito and a Jarrito to ease the pain of the six-hour journey. These days, I call Brooklyn my home as well as Salva Vida. After hunting for bootleg Bart Simpson T-shirts at Fort Greene Flea last Saturday, I stopped off at the Clinton Hill taqueria.
Six bucks got me a chicken and steak taco loaded with some of the tastiest pico this side of the Brooklyn Bridge. Though I have the tastebud tolerance of a toddler, all my spice inclined pals swear by the shop’s homemade salsa verde. Salva Vida is the perfect neighborhood Mexican spot, achieving the ultimate balance of fresh ingredients and Taco Bell prices.
