In the latest installment of SKATE SOMETHIN', the OCNY boys check out a classic skate spot under the BQE (that's the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway for all y'all non-NY'ers).
I got pretty whiny this winter (I'm always whiny) and made no attempts to skate in the cold. Being half a Florida man, I have been spoiled by the one season the state offers. One fine weekend, OCNY's Terrill, OC Online's Brayden, and I decided to roll over to Williamsburg and under the BQE. I hadn't been under the bridge since the previous spring––too busy or something, I guess. But in a year's time, a few mini quarter pipes, cement ledges, and hips that make for a good time have popped up. We decided to spend time with the banks flanking a ledge. I found a crude shovel behind a pillar that seemed like it'd been created by a Neanderthal, and I cleaned the spot up a bit. I spent pretty much the entire time warming up, but Terrill went straight into beast mode. Under the BQE is a classic spot and I hope it stays there for a long time. But watch out at night, people try to rob/kill you.
