Marques'Almeida Is Girly (but Still Grunge) for Spring

Think back: what were you doing on the night of the Millennium? There's a strong chance you were dancing to Euro anthems in a halter top. But did you look as cute as Marques'Almeida's girl does for spring? This season, Marta Marques and Paulo Almeida reclaim some of our all-time favorite early-2000s details: the asymmetrical hemline, the spaghetti strap, and the halter neck. But this is 2013, and the designers have taken their fabric use to new levels, layering frayed chiffon to create a summer-appropriate "faux fur," and using raw-edged cotton on perfect floaty dresses. The shoes (already cult pieces) tread a similar path, hitting the noughties nail on the head with that perfect angled across-toe strap. This collection is everything that was great about the years when you had a special part of your wardrobe for sparkly tops.
