In this round of "Pet Psychology," a series featuring OC pals and their cuddly friends, our friends RACHELYN REMZ-PORTER and Alice Barlow check in with the Austin-based events manager Patrick Waites and his pup Archie, Instax camera in tow!
When our Austin-based homie Patrick Waites offered us his floor to crash on during SXSW, we said HECK YES FOOL. Patrick is not only one of the biggest-hearted dudes on planet Earth (as well as an avid whiskey advicate), but he is also the Creative Events Manager at the legendary Austin venue MOHAWK. For the festival, we had one thing in mind and one thing only––shenanigans. But our diabolical plans were slightly foiled. Unfortunately for us, Patrick was way busy with a star-filled, baller-ass SXSW. But we didn't mind so much, 'cause when he wasn't home, we got to snuggle with his better half, Archie. So we wanted to introduce y'all to the dynamic duo that rules Austin.
What's your pet's name and age?
Archibald, aka Archie. Archie is six years and ten months old.
Where and when did you find Archie?
I found Archie in the fall of 2010 while living in New Orleans. I was wearing a grey 3.1 Philip Lim sweater the same colour as Archie. I knew that with our matching curly hair, he had to be mine.
What's your favorite memory with Archie?
Picking Archie up from surgery. Archie was born with bilateral luxating patella, and he couldn't walk when we met. He spent his entire life this way until I came along. This was an emotional bonding experience and a long month of recovery for him. We would lay in bed and watch episodes of Roseanne and eat ice cream.
How did you decide upon Archie's name?
I named him after Archie Manning, the legendary New Orleans Saints Quarterback.
What do you and Archie talk about?
Usually we discuss what I am going to wear. He helps me get dressed. I am pretty sure he is sick of hearing me talk about how hungover I am.
What is your spirit animal? What is Archie's spirit human?
My spirit animal is a fox. Archie's spirit human is Napoleon Bonaparte.
Where is Archie's favorite place to sleep? What does he dream about?
He sleeps curled up next to me when we get into bed. When I wake up in the morning, he is usually at my feet. I would love to think that Archie dreams about friends and music. However, I imagine that he just dreams about food.
