OC x LFW: Christopher Kane FW13

Camo, velvet, feathers, and BRAINS! If you had to break down Christopher Kane's massive fall collection into categories, those would be them. It was a big show; not only were there about 25% more looks than in previous seasons, it was also bubbling over with ideas. Phase one was an ode to kilts featuring camo-print skirts and wool outerwear with leather buckled straps. Phase two blended velvet (a C. Kane signature) with intricate guipure lace detailing on dresses that looked like something Daenerys Targaryen would wear—a feeling reinforced by armor-like metal collars. Then came the feathers, first on shoes and trimming a series of perfect party dresses, before exploding into fluffy rosettes and one particularly fantastic sweater covered entirely in swirling blue plumes. And, finally, the brains. Christopher created prints and intricate multicolor embroideries based on CAT scans of a human head. Those, along with the finale's tinsel-like dress, were literally mind-blowing.
