OC x NYFW Camera Diary: SUNO FW13

In the bustle before NYFW, we dispatched cameras to a handful of OC designers. The aim: to see how many snacks, coffee runs, and late-night pizzas go into making a collection. So now that we've seen what came down the catwalks, it's time to take a peek behind the scenes!

Crystals, tassels, and skirts over pants—SUNO's Fall/Winter 2013 collection was full of surprises. All of them delightful, of course! Alice Newell-Hanson: We LOVED the show! Can you talk us through the Fall/Winter collection?
Erin Beatty: We wanted to explore the idea of modern armor, what women wear to protect and project themselves in the outside world. We played with this idea throughout the collection, quilting shirts and placing crystals as if they were breastplates but on modern, tailored silhouettes.

ANH: How did the hair and beauty complement the collection?
EB: For hair and makeup we went completely natural—we wanted our girl to just look like a cool understated girl on the street.

ANH: Do you have a favorite piece from the collection?
EB: I love the first look and look 31 with the Swarovski knee pads.

ANH: What kept you going this week?
ERIN: Green juice and coffee.

ANH: How will you relax, now that the show is over?
EB: No time to relax. I flew straight to Paris where I spent the last few days tromping around Premier Vision, a gigantic fabric show. The only way not to feel sad after a show is to move on to the next!
