Just Eat It: The Rock & Sole Plaice

Fish and chips is arguably the greatest and most popular English dish of all time (maybe aside from a roast dinner). Yet in the vast ocean of London chip shops, seldom can you find that perfectly beer-battered piece of cod, or chips that are suitably salty and chunky enough.

Having been brought up on this typical British dish, the OC London team was dubious when it heard that the fish and chips at The Rock & Sole Plaice in Covent Garden was the best in London: we had to see if these bold rumors were true. Cod and chips, mushy peas, deep fried calamari, a side of curry sauce (nothing's better than curry sauce on chips!), tartare, and a few pickled gherkins later, we realized that we had just eaten some pretty insane fish and chips... Perhaps even the best.

Even cooler, we got to sit in the downstairs area of the under-the-sea-themed restaurant, where murals of sharks and dolphins coat the walls (so atmospheric!). Being just around the corner from OC London, this chippy is dangerously close. And even though the menu may be ordinary, the food is anything but!
