J.W. Anderson’s Fall/Winter 2013 men's collection pushed the public conception of masculinity with kinky knee-high boots, coquettish patent leather gloves, and philander-friendly hemlines but by contrast he decided to keep the show’s hair and makeup simple and clean. Working with Mark Hampton (of Julian Watson) and Lotten Holmqvist, the team created a look that screamed repression, creating sad, sunken eyes and wet slicked-back hair parted at the side with military precision. Harry and I dropped by the J.W. HQ prior to the show to shoot the beauty preparations.
