In one of the first shows of London Collections: Men fashion week, Lou Dalton showcased a Fall/Winter 2013 collection inspired by the North Sea oil boom of the 1970s. Done in fabrics such as raw Shetland wools and traditional tartan as well as oilskin and proofed technical fabrics, the heavily tailored collection features suiting attire layered with less formal pieces for casual, modern appeal. Inspired by the protagonist from Bill Forsyth's 1983 film Local Hero, an American oil baron who purchases a remote Scottish village to construct an oil port, the collection references utilitarian workwear that contrasts with the uniform of the visiting city boy.
The show also introduced the first official collaboration between Dalton and heritage bootmakers Grenson, who are notably famous for their products' quality, craftsmanship, and durability. Jointly, they managed to create an all-new boot style: a new take on the classic monkey boot that takes from traditional workwear as well as fly-fishing and woodcutting boots.
