OC x LFW: J.W Anderson SS13

Jonathan Anderson has had a busy week, what with the launch of his J.W. Anderson line for Topshop swiftly followed by his SS13 show. After a champagne or two in the Topshop tent, OC London's Dot and I took our seats and waited with baited breath for what was in store. With a flash of bright light and The Knife's "Silent Shout" blasting from the speakers, the show began.

The collection was named The Treatment Room, conjuring images of Anderson at work in his lab, and as the models strutted down the runway, this rang true. There were experiments in fabric and texture, with cotton sponge taking on the appearance of neoprene and satin given a rougher, tougher edge. There was a focus on masculine tailoring and fabrics but with an injection of femininity. Skirts and dresses in structured suiting fabrics were finished with a thick frill hem, and loose wide-legged pinstripe trousers were balanced with printed structured tops.

The prints were more refined than in previous seasons, with subtle geometric and tessellated patterns adorning new takes on the wrap dress and tunic-style tops. A standout look was the black zip-front jacket and thick frill skirt, paired with the flat leather boots that recurred throughout the show. Never has a skirt suit looked so good!
