USA vs. Korea: MVIO

At the moment of writing this, at least three people at 35 Howard Street are wearing an item of camouflage, and, statistically, there are probably five or six more OC-wide. In fact, camo is having a global moment—maybe sparked in part by our obsession? (Browse the fall OC men's collection and our collab with RP Miller and you'll get the idea.) But thinking back to time spent playing with my brother's action figures, it's clear that MVIO's camo is different. Woodland camo was marine Joe, and the subtle greys of MVIO's print are more Navy Seal.

MVIO touched down at OC for the first time this season, taking the print in a different, slicker direction. The brand is a Seoul fashion week stalwart that excels at turning out trim tailoring with a warped edge. This season, creative head Han Sanghyuk makes super-fitted blazers and backpacks out of the same camo wool, blurring the smart-cas line. And across the collection, pieces are finished with the kind of precision that makes them dressy but also workable for Sunday movie time. Details to look out for: asymmetrical pockets, a button-down with a curved hemline, the awesome faux-twinset construction of the pullover cardigan, and jackets wrapped—buttons and all—in leather and wool! Browse the collection below and watch this space for more MVIO memos.
