Each look from the SS13 Proenza Schouler collection of striking patterns and textural detail was a breathtaking feat in creativity, coolness, and just generally taking it there. A series of athletic looks kicked off the show but, as expected from Jack and Lazaro, these were hardly your basic sophisticated sweats. Leather perforated like a football jersey was married beautifully with snakeskin and bolts of key lime on the first crop of models sent down the runway. Next, the collection transitioned into show-stopping knee-length flowing dresses accessorized with high collars (please tell us this means the return of the choker!), before segueing into dresses of a straighter cut done in rich, lustrous jewel blues and acidic greens.
As if it couldn't get any better, the final looks elicited some audible wows from the audience: vivid photo-prints of crowds and pool scenes (reminiscent of Massimo Vitali's work) were cut in strips and collaged together, topping off the collection with an unforgettable fresh wave of tangerine, cerulean, and deep jungle green.
