BITES ON A BUDGET is a toothsome and tasty series where members of the OC family forage for great food––under $10! This time, we hit up This Little Piggy Had Roast Beef in the East Village.
"Little" because the place itself is a hobbit home for roast beef, and "piggy" because you will feel like one after gorging on any of their juicy sandwiches. I got the classic "This Way" sandwich ($5.50) stuffed with an ample amount of perfectly shredded, tender roast beef au jus and drenched in––wait for it––Cheez Whiz. You can't deny the deliciousness of the meat-cheese-and-bread trifecta that transports you back to the gourmet college cookout days. The complimentary gigantic pickles polish off the lunch meal nicely, so there's no need to leave room for dessert. Okay, maybe just a root beer.
