OC x NYFW: N. Hoolywood SS13

Graffiti culture was all the rage at Daisuke Obana's N.Hoolywood show presenting his SS13 collection. Armed with cans of spraypaint, models stepped into a tray of inky black paint one by one, leaving jet-black footsteps on a searing white canvas in their wake. The models held up a street look, their pants tight at the ankles and their caps displaying the words the faith of graffiti, which is also the title of Norman Mailer's famous 1974 Esquire article on street art. The collection features elements that would be practical for street taggers, like large pockets and zippers, and face-shrouding gear, as well as prints and textiles that take from inks, paints, and stencils. At the show's conclusion, Daisuke himself left his mark by tagging the canvas, before taking a bow and dashing backstage to the crowd's applause.
