Fine Wine: Happy Birthday, Tim Burton!

Tim Burton's birthday is tomorrow! Here, a birthday card in true OC style to one of our favorite visionaries.

As a child of the 90s, it is unthinkable not to name one of Tim Burton's masterpieces as one of my favorite films. Tim Burton is undoubtedly the wizard of weird, whose films like Beetlejuice single-handedly increased night light sales around the world. His macabre aesthetic is unmatched to this day, and it's difficult to think of another director whose creativity can execute such stylized and visionary films like Edward Scissorhands and The Nightmare Before Christmas.

He has surpassed the boundaries of Hollywood and earned the status as a fully-fledged artist with recent retrospectives at MoMA and LACMA. But what's truly magical about Tim Burton is the way that each of his films quash all sensory constraints, reignite any tired imagination, and transplant his audience into a netherworld beyond the realms of normality. We salute you for sharing your fantastically brilliant dreams––happy birthday, Tim!
