It's summertime, the living is easy, and Les Rogers got the memo. Currently up at Half Gallery is an exuberant series of canvases onto which colors and brushstrokes seem to have flown with lickety-split whimsy. The hand-to-wood work is truly felt––Rogers' carved marks in the beautiful molasses-brown wooden frames are anything but rectilinear––and it's refreshing. Like windows looking out onto the world, the works are reminders of what we don't always see when peering out from the panes of our own homes: a world that's patchy, erratic, absurd, and sublime all at once.
