House Party: Washed Out, Chairlift, and Lemonade

If you weren't at the House of Vans show last Thursday, you were probably lined up outside. Washed Out, Chairlift, and Lemonade drew a crowd that went from the Greenpoint warehouse all the way to Williamsburg. Lemonade opened with a set straight off of their new album, Diver––each song a certified summer jam. The nymphlike, ombré-haired Chairlift lead singer Caroline Polachek took to the stage with a voice that mesmerized the audience. (She later returned during Washed Out's set for a rendition of "You and I," one of the night's highlights). Each group's music, while aesthetically different, served as the perfect soundtrack for the hazy, hot, and sticky night. In between sets, the crowd moved to the back lot to take in the sunset and waterfront breeze. As we move into August, it was the perfect reminder to enjoy the last month of summer before it's gone.
