Pop! Suzy Taekyung Kim at Blank Space

Nothing compares to the combined feeling of joy and inspiration, as if your emotions are about to <POP>. And it's precisely what I felt when I attended my friend SUZY TAEKYUNG KIM's recent solo exhibition at BLANK SPACE GALLERY. In her new works on view, the former Takashi Murakami production manager (who lead his smiley flowers and Louis Vuitton paintings project!) attempted to capture the energy of everyday experiences. "I wanted to trap that specific burst of radiance and fiery explosion when a flower blooms; I want the viewer to see the powerful forces and beauty." Check out her use of colors made of fine pigments and gold powder––they create a shimmering effect that changes depending on the viewer's angle and on the light source.
